My can-do-it hemo girl

I am an activist for hemophilia care in the Philippines. As a former journalist, I have chronicled my own family's journey with von Willebrand’s Disease in multiple venues including blogging, facebook and in the media.  I also give talks on hemophilia and bleeding disorders. The Importance of Being in Shape

I am living the good life in a big city that includes walking everywhere I want to go –- shopping, museums, restaurants, friends and or course, work.  I am employed in a design firm that is surviving the economy, and proudly raising a garden of assorted plants inside my condo.  I’m constantly listening to and finding new music and trying out new recipes.

Headings and Subheadings

I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to English parents. I moved around a lot when I was growing up, but always in England. I went to the University of Warwick to study English and Comparative Literature in 2006, and then went on to study at my PGCE in Secondary English at The University of Birmingham. I am currently working as a Secondary English Teacher, and studying for my Masters in Education, again at The University of Birmingham. I have always enjoyed writing, and intend to keep writing!

My Story and I'm Stickin' To It!!

In 1998, realizing a need for Women With Bleeding Disorders to network with and empower each other, I founded LadyBugs, a 501(c)3  educational non-profit dedicated to serving WWBDs.  I've also spent the past 10 years as the first Patient Advisor for the PeaceHealth Hospital Organization, and have continued the outreach and awareness of WWBDs within this medical community, as well as advocating for patient-centered care and safety in the hospital and medical clinic.

My hobbies include gardening (especially herbs and flowers that I use to make potpourri, spices, etc.), collecting and restoring vintage jewelry, and writing real, hand-written letters when I can!
